Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about hotshot trucking, our services, and how to get started.
Hotshot trucking is an expedited freight service using a heavy-duty pickup truck and flatbed trailer to deliver time-sensitive or smaller loads faster than standard LTL or full truckload carriers. Hotshot loads typically move on flatbed or gooseneck trailers and are ideal for freight that needs to move quickly or doesn't fill a 53-foot trailer. Turbobrick Hauling operates a 2025 Ram 2500 with a 40-foot gooseneck flatbed — big enough for most freight, fast enough for urgent delivery.
Same-day and next-day pickups are available depending on location and current schedule. Because Turbobrick is owner-operated, there's no dispatch queue — when you call, you're talking directly to the driver, and we can confirm availability immediately. For loads in the Richmond, Virginia metro area, same-day pickup is often possible. For East Coast runs, next-day pickup is typical.
We haul general freight, metal and steel, motor vehicles, building materials, machinery and equipment, farm supplies, and construction equipment. Our 40-foot gooseneck flatbed with mega ramps handles everything from palletized goods to skid steers. See our full Services page for details on each cargo category.
Our Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) is 26,000 lbs. This is the total system weight including the truck, trailer, and cargo. Actual cargo capacity depends on the weight of the trailer itself. We operate under non-CDL weight limits, which keeps us below the CDL threshold and means faster availability for qualifying loads.
Our home base is Richmond, Virginia. We regularly serve the entire Mid-Atlantic region including Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham, and Charlotte. We also run loads along the full East Coast corridor from New England to Florida, and inland to the Midwest on request.
Yes. Turbobrick Hauling carries commercial auto liability insurance and cargo insurance that meet all FMCSA requirements for interstate property carriers. We can provide a certificate of insurance upon request. Our USDOT number is 4548679 — you can verify our registration and insurance status on the FMCSA SAFER system.
The fastest way is to call us directly — you'll reach the owner, not a dispatcher. You can also submit a quote request through our Contact page with your pickup location, delivery location, cargo description, weight, and dimensions. We typically respond to online quotes within one hour during business hours.
Yes. Because the owner is the driver, you get direct communication throughout the haul. We provide real-time updates via phone or text at pickup, during transit, and at delivery. No automated systems or third-party tracking portals — just direct updates from the person behind the wheel.
Turbobrick Hauling operates a 2025 Ram 2500 Big Horn with a 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel and a 40-foot gooseneck flatbed trailer equipped with mega ramps. The mega ramps allow drive-on loading for vehicles and equipment. See our Equipment page for full specs and photos.
Turbobrick operates at a 26,000 lb GCWR, which is below the 26,001 lb threshold requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This means we avoid certain CDL-specific regulatory requirements, which can translate to faster scheduling and fewer delays. All operations are fully FMCSA registered, DOT compliant, and insured to the same standards as CDL carriers.
